Political science professors will be studying the 2024 Ron DeSantis campaign for years to try to figure out where it all went wrong. From setting strippers’ butt cheeks on fire to the discovery that DeSantis wears lifts to make himself look like a big boy, this journey has been one disastrous mistake after another.
In the latest blow to the campaign, it’s been discovered that the Florida governor gave an award to a transgender man in 2022 and referred to the dude in a dress as a “role model to children.”
The same billionaire RINO donors who thought that Republican voters would love John McCain in 2008 and Mitt Romney in 2012 latched onto Ron DeSantis several years ago. Their plan was to have DeSantis become the Chosen One who could stop Donald Trump in 2024. Some Republican governors, like Glenn Youngkin of Virginia and Kristi Noem of South Dakota, were smart enough to not take the bait. DeSantis, however, could not resist the siren song of all that money, so he betrayed the man who made him Governor of Florida and took the donor cash.
Much of the mythology around Ron DeSantis has been just that—mythology. He’s an empty shell waiting for someone to offer him the opinions that he should spout. This was clear years ago when he was in Congress and voted to fast-track the Trans-Pacific Partnership for Barack Obama (a terrible trade deal that President Trump protected America from).
Since the “official” campaign launch back in May, DeSantis has tried to present himself as the only true “anti-woke” candidate running for president. He has repeatedly called for an end to Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity (DIE) in his state and earlier this year said, “The whole experiment with DEI is coming to an end in the state of Florida.”
This all appears to be an act. It’s now apparent, with the release of this award that DeSantis gave out last year, that he has shoved his affinity for transgenderism, woke ideology, DIE, and Critical Race Theory deep into the closet for this campaign.
A biological man who wants others to play along with his sexual fetish by calling him “Ashley Brundage” was given an award from Governor Ron DeSantis in 2022. Mr. Brundage is a board member of the LGBT lobbying group GLAAD, and is a former vice president of Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity in the financial industry.
In June of 2022, Ron DeSantis gave Mr. Brundage an award that is intended to go to a biological woman for their contributions to their local communities. DeSantis gave the man the Florida Commission on the Status of Women’s Spirit of Community Award.
In the letter that he wrote to Mr. Brundage to accompany the award, DeSantis stated:
“I appreciate your dedication and hard work as a mentor and advocate to children and women. I am confident that you serve as a shining example of a positive role model in your community.”
How? By twerking at the library?
DeSantis continued to gush praise on this transgender biological man:
“Thank you for your selfless contributions to fellow Floridians. Best wishes for your continued success. Keep up the great work!”
It’s unclear whether Mr. Brundage gave the Florida governor any tips on how to wear high heels. Politico asked the DeSantis campaign for a comment on the governor lavishing praise on a biological man and pretending that the dude is a woman. So far, the DeSantis campaign has refused to comment.
