Ever since the news of COVID-19 first broke, the liberals have done everything they could to control the narrative. Now, EcoHealth Alliance’s President Peter Daszak is being forced to answer about how he misled the federal government on multiple occasions. As a result of these lies, he received various grants to fund research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
Daszak now faces questions about the work done between himself and the EcoHealth Alliance in conjunction with China’s Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV). Specifically, they focused on his refusal to disclose his ties with the WIV, gain of function research his nonprofit was reportedly engaged in, and other nuances of his actions while in this role. In 2018 he submitted a proposal for a DARPA grant under a project titled DEFUSE.
In DEFUSE, Daszak was to collaborate with UNC’s Dr. Ralph Baric and Dr. Zhengli Shi from the WIV. In written comments to both Baric and Shi, he claimed he was worried about the funding since it would support projects that were not directly focused on the US. Daszak also openly admitted that if they were aware of the focus they would have a major problem with the grant.
Especially as Rep. Brad Wenstrup (R-OH) revealed Daszak’s comments and questions about the safety protocols in China vs the US. In the proposal, EcoHealth specifically outlined their use of biosafety level 3 for their coronavirus studies, whereas China was riskier with level 2 protocols. In the proposal, it said, “The BSL-2 nature of work on SARSr-CoVs makes our system highly cost-effective relative to other bat-virus systems.” Daszak separately noted to Baric and Shi, “China might be growing these under BSL-2. U.S. researchers will likely freak out.”
Given Dasek’s later claims that a Chinese lab leak theory was nothing more than a “conspiracy theory,” now both sides are grilling him for lying to the American people. This theory ultimately was proven true, and something he tried to get us to ignore once the “science” quit working for him.
