Op-Ed: Living Life as a Christian American (We Know, It’s Not Easy)

With all that happens around the country, it’s easy to forget that the country was founded by Christians. The Bible was a big part of our forefathers’ lives, and it was a big part of the way that our country was created.

We always hear about “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”

Did you know that liberty is something that is divinely inherited from God?

Galatians 5:1 tells us, “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”

It is one of the reasons why we must live our lives as a Christian. It’s not easy, considering that it’s not one of the most popular ideals in today’s times. But the Bible tells us how we’re supposed to live – and that can lead to a more unified country, too.

Throughout the Bible, there are over 50 commandments that tell us how we’re supposed to treat one another. We can love and serve one another. We can glorify God. And we can ensure that we are at peace with our neighbors.

As Christians, it is up to us to do what we need to do to bring peace. While those around you may not be living life as a Christian, it is still your responsibility to do so. And by leading by example, you may just convince others that it’s best to do the same.

Think about our pledge of allegiance. It says very clearly, “One nation, under God.”

If that is the pledge of allegiance for our country, shouldn’t we be working to leverage liberty for Godly purposes?

Ronald Reagan once said, “If we ever forget that we are One Nation Under God, then we will be a nation gone under.”

That’s an important thing to remember right now when we see things like the FBI targeting parents who are concerned about what their children are learning. We see the federal government telling us that we need to let our small children mutilate themselves in the name of gender-affirming healthcare. And that it’s okay to allow abortion even though it’s murder.

So, in a world that is constantly in attack-mode, we must pray. By clinging to our Christianity, it may be the only way to save the country.
