With the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and LGBTQ advocates pushing behind them, a group of drag queens is now challenging a new Texas law. Under this law, explicit sexual performances in front of minors will be illegal as of September 1st. In their suit, they allege it threatens the lives of drag queens and could outlaw cheerleading in public.

“The exhibition or representation, actual, or simulated, of sexual acts, including vaginal sex, anal sex, and masturbation” are illegal in public and in front of children by this new law. This makes the presumptions brought by their lawsuit a real stretch. With violations of the law running $10,000 a pop and carrying a potential year in jail, many of them wonder how far it could go.

Yet these same people bringing the lawsuit are forgetting their history.

Drag queens used to simply do a show in private for adults, and even then, it was kept feminine and flamboyant but not overtly sexual. While still a disturbing thing, it was tolerable as it was kept in the dark. Now, they want to talk about and simulate a guy they blew for a pina colada the night before while they perform at St Mercy Elementary. It’s just not a good fit. It’s not a good look. This even goes back to the old theater adage, “Know your audience.”

If they can’t read the letter of the law to know what’s appropriate in front of a minor and what’s not, then perhaps they need to be investigated for possible child endangerment. Because quite simply, something is very wrong with these individuals.
