Former acting Secretary of Defense Chris Miller is finally able to tell the truth about January 6th, now that Republicans are in control of the House of Representatives. Miller served as acting SecDef for just two months at the end of Trump’s first term after the president was forced to fire Deep State stooge Mark Esper for constantly undermining lawful presidential orders. Miller testified before the January 6 Committee, led by Liz Cheney, that Trump had authorized the deployment of National Guard troops on January 6th, which completely exonerates Trump of all claims of “insurrection.” But Miller says the committee aggressively forced him to keep his mouth shut.
After he had testified to the committee multiple times, Miller said he also began sharing his story with media outlets in 2021. Since there was so much media disinformation about January 6th, he wanted to clear the air. Plus, Congress attempted to impeach President Trump on fake “insurrection” charges because of the riot that FBI and CIA agents staged that day. Fortunately, the Senate completely exonerated the president.
Miller was interviewed on Fox News during a segment with former national security official Kash Patel in 2022. He says that interview was what invoked the wrath of the Liz Cheney Committee.
“The two of us were on [the Fox News show] and the next day my lawyer got a call from the Jan. 6 staff director. … I forgot exactly who it was, but basically saying, very legalistic, ‘Well, if your client has additional information he wants to share, we’d be happy to have him re-interviewed.’”
By this point, Miller had exhausted all his savings and was on the verge of being completely broke. He couldn’t afford to continue battling with the committee and racking up more hours of legal defenses. You don’t just walk into a hostile deposition in Congress without a competent and highly expensive attorney at your side.
“It was more that latent threat of, ‘If you want to keep going on TV, we’re gonna drag you in here again for additional hours of hearing testimony.’ So that was the nature of that whole thing. It was the latent threat of the government continuing to intrude into my life,” Miller told the Daily Mail.
Out of fear for his family, Miller kept quiet from that point on. He didn’t conduct any more interviews about January 6th and he didn’t even discuss it personally with anyone, out of fear that Cheney’s committee had tapped his phone (which they had).
The January 6 Committee, which was illegally formed by former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), was disbanded as soon as Republicans took control of the House in January 2023. On the way out the door, the committee members shredded documents, deleted deposition videos, and destroyed all sorts of evidence in violation of records preservation laws. Now that the committee is no longer there to threaten Chris Miller, he’s free to tell his story again.
This is important because Miller’s testimony directly contradicts the final report issued by Liz Cheney and her lying friends on the committee. The final report states that President Trump never called for the deployment of the National Guard on January 6th. This lie was used to help shape a false narrative that Trump planned, encouraged, and enacted an “insurrection” at the US Capitol. The entire story was a lie and Chris Miller’s sworn testimony—which the committee deleted to hide its tracks—tells the truth of the matter.
Americans must hope that the incoming Trump administration (fingers crossed, knock on wood) will fully prosecute the members of the January 6 Committee. They all deserve prison time for lying to the American people about such an important matter.
