Yet another failed loser who is polling at 0.0% with GOP voters has announced that he’ll run for president to challenge Donald Trump for the 2024 nomination. Former CIA spook and Liz Cheney compatriot, Congressman Will Hurd (R-TX), is now officially in the race. Wait, who?

Will Hurd was a CIA spook in Afghanistan and Pakistan because he’s apparently able to fit right in doing undercover work with terrorists. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. He then spent six years in Congress, from 2014 through 2020, completely annoying the people of his district.

Starting in 2016, Hurd became a member of an increasingly small cadre of politicians who are being systematically removed from office: The butthurt Never-Trumpers. Rep. Hurd actually complained about Donald Trump’s “mean tweets,” which are actually one of Trump’s most endearing qualities to his diehard supporters.

During his tenure, Hurd was one of the wimpiest and most leftwing Republicans in the House. He voted against securing the southern border. He voted with the Democrats in favor of newly invented LGBT “rights” and gun control. He voted against repealing Obamacare. He was in favor of a resolution to force the IRS to hand over 10 years’ worth of President Trump’s tax returns, so the Democrats could pore over them.

Hurd was also friends with Liz Cheney, and he calls the mostly peaceful and completely firearm-free protest on January 6th an “insurrection.” In 2020, the internal polling in his district was so bad that he didn’t bother running for Congress.

The big question is, if Hurd was so unpopular that he couldn’t even get reelected in his own district in Texas, what makes him think he stands a chance in a primary against Donald Trump? Or maybe a better question is, who’s bankrolling this doomed effort?
