We all know that Democrats of the modern age aren’t really all that interested in democracy. But leftist New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham just took things to a whole new level.
On Friday, she assumed the power to make herself more “absolute” than the US Constitution and take your guns simultaneously.
And no, I’m not kidding.
The whole ordeal began on Thursday when she declared a “public health emergency” for her state. And no, she’s not talking about the supposed rise in COVID cases or some other actual health-related worry.
Instead, “gun violence” has become the “public health emergency” she’s most worried about.

Then, on Friday, she took her newly found emergency powers and used them to ban both open and concealed carrying of firearms.
“Today, I issued a 30-day ban on the open & concealed carrying of guns in Albuquerque and Bernalillo County. Gun violence is killing between 2 and 3 children every month in NM – every single one of these deaths is unconscionable and they must stop.”

To be sure, the death of children, especially due to gun violence, is unconscionable. Gun violence has also become a major problem in most urban areas.
But banning guns is not the answer – besides, it’s a direct violation of our Second Amendment rights, as the US Constitution provides.
As that founding document states, “The right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
Yet, that is precisely what Grisham is doing, even if it’s for 30 days.
Apparently, she doesn’t think anything, not even the Constitution, is “absolute,” and, therefore, she has no problem giving herself more powers that could supposedly overrule federal laws.
Another thing to point out here is that she’s not really concerned with gun violence or child deaths. As her explanation admits, she’s all about the “value” this new order can give “me.”
Naturally, there are now calls for her impeachment.
