Conservatives typically have great respect for law enforcement. We support law and order, we “Back the Blue,” and we understand that cops generally have a very difficult job that most people wouldn’t want to do. We also have to be cognizant of the fact that there are quite a few terrible cops out there.
This is a story about two of those terrible types of cops. Disturbing bodycam footage has been released of two police officers in Oklahoma who violently assaulted a father for the “suspicious crime” of taking his autistic 6-year-old son for a walk.
John Sexton is a father living in the tiny rural town of Watonga, OK, located about 75 miles northwest of Oklahoma City. The town’s population was counted at 2,690 in the 2020 census. On July 4th, John was doing the same thing that he does every single morning before 6 a.m.—taking his 6-year-old autistic son for a walk.
On that morning, a pair of police officers stopped Sexton and his son as they were walking. When Sexton asked why they were being stopped, one of the authoritarian thugs with a gun and a badge informed him that it was “a little suspicious.”
“What?” asked the incredulous father. “Walking around is a little bit suspicious?”
One police officer then admits on the bodycam footage that it is “technically” not suspicious for Sexton and his son to be going for a walk, but it’s still suspicious. What?
The cops then ask Sexton for his ID. They even threaten to arrest Sexton for failure to provide ID. He doesn’t have his ID on him, because he left it at the house. He’s a free American, after all, and he was simply taking his son for a walk. He even empties his pockets in front of the cops to show them that he doesn’t have his ID on him.
One of the dirty cops then violently throws John Sexton to the ground and handcuffs him. His autistic 6-year-old son is standing just feet away and screaming in confusion as his dad is violently attacked by these cops.
They then detain Sexton in the back of a patrol vehicle for a while before releasing him. Why did they release him? Because he literally did not commit a single crime! They had nothing to charge him with. He was just a dad out for a walk with his little boy.
This is completely unacceptable in America. Police are supposed to be public servants. We’re not their slaves. No conservative can support this type of behavior from police officers. These are the types of cops that will lock your family in a concentration camp if Kamala Harris tells them to. Years later at the war crimes tribunals, they’ll say that they were “just following orders.”
If John Sexton had been a black man, there would be riots across America right now with people burning police cars. But because he is a poor and powerless rural white American (and probably a Trump supporter), he had no rights whatsoever in the eyes of law enforcement.
The local police department won’t even release the names of these cops and the media is not pressing for their names to be released. Why would they? All the dirty cops did was assault a white man and commit federal conspiracy to deprive an American of his constitutional rights.
That’s not acceptable. The public deserves to know the names of these dirty cops and the two jackbooted authoritarian Nazis deserve to have their names plastered all across the country. We cannot accept this behavior from police as Americans.
