In a strange turn of events, two Democrat congressmen, Ruben Gallego of Arizona and Colin Allred of Texas, have decided to go all-in on supporting LGBT radicalism in the U.S. military.
Last Friday, over 160 House Democrats sent a letter to the leaders of the House and Senate Armed Services Committees, expressing their opposition to key provisions in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2025. These provisions aim to prevent the Pentagon from adopting several extreme LGBT policies, which have increasingly become a source of division rather than unity within our military ranks. But apparently, Gallego and Allred think that promoting these agendas is more important than ensuring our troops are prepared for their primary mission: to protect our country.
In their letter, the Democrats claim, “The federal government should be working to ensure all service members and their families can thrive.” Well, if by thriving they mean promoting a radical agenda that prioritizes gender ideology over military readiness, then count me out. These congressmen are running for Senate seats in Republican-leaning states, yet they’re doubling down on policies that many constituents vehemently oppose. Talk about political suicide!
The NDAA, which was approved by the House in June, includes amendments that aim to eliminate neo-Marxist influences that are currently infecting our military. These amendments specifically prohibit the Defense Department from using taxpayer dollars for gender transition surgeries and restrict the purchase of materials that contain what many Americans would deem “pornographic” and “radical gender ideology” for military schools. In other words, they want to keep the focus on defending our nation, not indulging in social engineering experiments.
Among the provisions the Democrats are opposing are those that ban the Pentagon from funding drag shows or similar events on military bases. They also object to measures that would prevent the military chain of command from using its discretion regarding the display of flags. If you think it’s appropriate for the military to be a venue for pride parades, then I have a bridge to sell you.
Unfortunately, these common-sense amendments were ultimately tossed aside by Senate Democrats during negotiations for the final version of the NDAA. What we got in the end was a watered-down bill that allows radical leftist policies to continue their insidious spread within our military for yet another year. While Gallego and Allred run around promoting their agendas, they conveniently forget that the military’s mission is not to be a platform for social causes but to defend the country.
It’s worth noting that both congressmen are cosponsors of the Equality Act, which aims to strip religious liberties and parental rights under the banner of inclusivity. Elle Purnell from the media aptly pointed out that this legislation would endanger the safety and privacy of women and girls, but that doesn’t seem to faze these Democrats.
Allred has gone even further, cosponsoring a resolution that calls for a so-called “Transgender Bill of Rights.” This initiative aims to protect the rights of transgender and nonbinary individuals, but at what cost? It seems like a blatant attempt to prioritize a small segment of the population over the majority. Texans, particularly families, should be alarmed at what Allred represents.
A spokesperson for Texas GOP Senator Ted Cruz’s reelection campaign stated it plainly: “Day after day, Colin Allred shows Texans who he really is. His record on transgender issues puts our children and families at risk.” Can we afford to have a senator whose views align more with radical activists than the values of the people he seeks to represent?
As for Kari Lake, the Republican candidate in Arizona, her campaign has been eerily silent on this pressing issue. Perhaps she’s waiting for the right moment to pounce, or maybe she just doesn’t want to engage in a battle of wits with two Democrats who have put their progressive agendas front and center. Whatever the case, it’s time for Republicans to unite and take a stand against this political lunacy.
Gallego and Allred’s endorsement of radical LGBT policies within the military is not just a political stunt; it’s an affront to the core mission of our armed forces. Their actions are a clear indication of where the Democrat Party is headed—far away from the values that have made America great.
