While conservatives are still basking in the glorious victory of Donald J. Trump in the 2024 election, both parties are looking ahead to the future. Sadly, Trump will only get to kick the Deep State in the teeth for one term this time. The GOP and the Democrat losers will then have to put up new candidates in 2028. Pollsters for both sides are already searching for answers to figure out who those people will be. Here are the results.
Echelon Insights conducted a poll of Republican voters between November 11 and 18, to see who they’d most like to see pick up the mantle from President Trump. The frontrunner shouldn’t be a surprise to many. Vice President-Elect JD Vance came in first place with 37% of the vote.
It probably will be Vance’s nomination to take or leave, but a lot could change in four years. If he turns out to be another Deep State stooge who tries to undermine President Trump at every turn (as Mike Pence did), Republican voters will sour on him quickly.
The two people tied for second and third place are a bit confusing to most Americans. Republican voters chose two foreigners from India as their preferred GOP nominee. Nimrata Rhandawa (fake name: Nikki Haley) and Vivek Ramaswamy each earned 9% in the poll.
Both Nikki Haley and Vivek Ramaswamy were born to immigrant parents. Since they are not “natural born citizens,” neither one is eligible to serve as President of the United States under the Constitution. Then again, Kamala Harris ran this year and nobody didn’t kick her out of the race on the same grounds.
Trailing in fourth place was Florida Governor Ron DeSantis at 8%. DeSantis likely would have been a frontrunner in 2028 if only he had sat out the 2024 Republican primary. The siren song of cash from Mitt Romney’s donors was just too much for him, though. DeSantis decided to pour gas on his political future and light a match by challenging Donald Trump for the nomination this year. It’s unlikely that MAGA voters will ever forgive him for that betrayal. We wouldn’t be surprised if “Meatball Ron’s” ceiling ends up around 8% in the 2028 primaries.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Secretary of State nominee Marco Rubio (R-FL) each drew 5% in the poll. Other than the foreigners and DeSantis, that’s not a bad selection of choices for 2028. At least our side has a bench of potential candidates.
Echelon Insights also polled Democrat voters about their 2028 nominee choices. Despite her shocking loss of all seven swing states to Donald Trump and total lack of skills or accomplishments, 41% of Democrat voters say that Kamala Harris is their first choice.
California Governor Gavin Newsom was a distant second with 9%, followed by Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro with 8%. Tampon Tim Walz and failed Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg each had 7%. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) made the list with a terrifying 4%.
In what must have truly hurt their feelings, Democrat governors Gretchen Whitmer (MI), JB Pritzker (IL), Jared Polis (CO), Wes Moore (MD), and Andy Beshear (KY) all came in behind AOC. Ouch!
In other words, the future is looking very bright for JD Vance as of right now. When Kamala Harris is the top contender on your entire bench, your political party is in serious trouble. We can also say with a high degree of confidence that Kamala won’t be the 2028 nominee. We don’t know who will, but the stain of losing to Big Orange Hitler isn’t going to wear off of her in four short years.
