Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez just had one of those rare moments where she’s actually right. The New York congresswoman went on an Instagram spree, dropping some truth bombs about why Democrats took a beating in the 2024 election. And the target? Her own party. She went full roast mode, laying it out: Americans are done—done—with “fake politicians.” Nothing ticks off voters more than politicians who strut around acting progressive, only to hit reverse the second the polls turn against them.
According to AOC, pretending to be super left-wing and then ditching those values post-election is worse than just being upfront about your views—no matter how controversial they might be. “A lot of voters really don’t like fake people, and they’re sick and tired of fake politicians,” she said, looking as done with it all as everyone else.
The irony here? She’s not wrong. People can’t stand fake politicians, and who represents that better than Kamala Harris? With her chameleon accents and over-the-top pandering, Harris feels as genuine as a knockoff designer bag. She’s that kid who somehow got into the honors math class even though everyone, including the teacher, knows she shouldn’t be there. And yet, she’s upfront, asking questions she really should know the answer to by now.
Say what you will about AOC, but there’s a reason young Democrats love her. She may drive conservatives up a wall, but at least she’s real—or at least, she talks like it. No filters, no practiced lines. Just straight-up like she’s one of her own constituents. Kamala, on the other hand? Listening to her is like getting lectured by an HR bot with a glitch.
If Democrats want a shot in 2026, maybe they should take a page out of AOC’s “no-B.S.” playbook. Because if they keep acting like they’re above connecting with the average voter, the only place they’ll be heading is straight back to the political sidelines.
