Tony Bobulinski, a former business partner of Hunter Biden and a retired Navy lieutenant, became widely known after alleging Joe Biden’s involvement in his son’s business ventures, particularly with a Chinese oil company. Bobulinski claimed to have evidence suggesting that Joe Biden profited from his son’s deals in China. This evidence includes an email mentioning “10% held by H for the big guy,” which Bobulinski believes refers to Joe Biden.
Bobulinski has appeared before the House Oversight Committee multiple times, but his March 20, 2024, testimony is giving Democrats the biggest headache yet. During this appearance, he provided a written opening statement and participated in a recorded interview. In his testimony, Bobulinski leveled several accusations against the Biden family, asserting that Joe Biden was aware of and actively involved in his family’s business dealings, particularly with China.
Bobulinski claimed that the Biden family leveraged Joe Biden’s influence to benefit financially from foreign entities. He further accused Hunter Biden of lying under oath and labeled certain Biden family members dishonest. Bobulinski alleged that Joe Biden was not only informed about but also facilitated and participated in his family’s foreign business ventures, despite efforts to maintain plausible deniability. According to Bobulinski, these business dealings were driven by Joe Biden’s position of power, resulting in tens of millions of dollars flowing directly to the Biden family.
During this hearing, he had one more fact to reveal. He had contacted Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) multiple times since October 2020 regarding his concerns about Joe Biden’s potential corruption.
Initially, Bobulinski said that Khanna was receptive. A text between the two men showed Khanna commending Bobulinski for his honesty and integrity.
Bobulinski testified that he had emails from 2021 and 2022 proving that he had asked Ro and his staff to hire forensics experts to inspect his Blackberry phones as proof of his claims that Biden was very much aware of his son’s business dealings.
A spokesperson for Khanna quickly dismissed the congressman’s initial response to Bobulinski’s concerns, saying that Khanna was “always courteous out of respect for Tony’s service.” However, he emphasized that any evidence must go through the appropriate committee procedures for review.
Bobulinski rocketed to media fame shortly after The Post’s explosive report in October 2020 regarding the Biden family’s international business ventures. He claimed that Joe, the Democratic candidate at the time, had been dishonest with the public and that he was indeed involved in his family’s business affairs despite his previous denials.
At an October 22, 2020, press conference before the final general election debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump, Bobulinski contradicted Biden’s claim that he never discussed his son Hunter’s business dealings. Bobulinski asserted that he interacted with the Biden family, including Joe Biden, and could provide firsthand knowledge of the then-Vice-President’s involvement in the corrupt business affairs. He even offered to present three cell phones he used between 2015 and 2018 for the Biden family’s business ventures as evidence.
Khanna must have suddenly remembered his stove was on because he quickly ducked out of Wednesday’s hearings before Bobulinski could remind him of the numerous times he had contacted the congressman and urged him to act on his concerns regarding the Biden family business.
In his testimony, Tony Bobulinski accused Hunter Biden and his uncle James of giving inconsistent accounts regarding their business interactions with CEFC China Energy. According to a Senate report from 2020, these dealings led to over $7 million being paid into accounts associated with Hunter and James Biden between 2017 and 2018. Bobulinski claimed that CEFC, which he described as connected to the Chinese Communist Party, aimed to gain influence within the Obama-Biden administration.
Bobulinski also mentioned that Ye Jianming, the chairman of CEFC, disappeared from China after being arrested for corruption charges in March 2018.
Furthermore, Bobulinski asserted that Joe Biden knew about the dealings with CEFC and should have stopped them because of his duty to the American people. He also noted that the Obama administration had previously marked CEFC as a concern due to its ties with the Chinese government.
Democrats have been pushing for Republicans to act if they plan to impeach Biden, but the investigation will not be rushed. Representative James Comer has emphasized that he is committed to ensuring that all evidence is thoroughly reviewed and verified before formal impeachment actions begin.
The predicted failure of an evidence-supported Biden impeachment in the Senate will further damage the Democrats’ reputation. And maybe, just maybe, Republicans are planning a little legal warfare of their own, just in time for the November election.
