ALERT: National Disaster Medical System on Standby

VA Prepares to Crush COVID

(ReliableNews.org) – The government is doing everything it can to stop the spread of COVID-19. States are closing parks, non-essential businesses and helping residents financially. Congress is working on a stimulus package to hopefully prevent a recession. Now, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is preparing to step up to the plate as well.

VA Secretary Robert Wilkie has said his department is preparing a medical team just in case communities need help fighting the virus. The team currently has 3,000 medical personnel ready to go. In addition to the nurses, doctors and others, the secretary has mobile pharmacies and hospitals available as well.

The VA is a designated back-up when civilian medical centers need help. As of March 20, there are more than 18,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the US, including 233 deaths. There’s no telling when Secretary Wilkie’s team will need to step in.
