Former SC Governor and (somehow) current GOP Presidential Candidate Nikki Haley has been doing anything possible to get positive attention for her campaign. Despite these best efforts, as of late, everything she has tried has been horrific at best. From her complete oversight of slavery being a main cause for the Civil War to a January 8th campaign stop in Iowa that nobody came out for.
Canceled just minutes before it was set to begin, Haley didn’t even bother to show up for the few members of the media who had wasted their time showing up. One reporter said, “If you look around me, technically, this is an event that was supposed to start in the last few minutes, and of course, it’s empty. You got empty chairs, stuff packed up in the corner, and signs just hanging on the wall — the only way you’d know that Nikki Haley was supposed to be here.”
While many raced to mock her cancellation, Vivek Ramaswamy leaned into her failure and capitalized on it for his campaign message.
“Nikki Haley canceled her events in Sioux City, Iowa to ‘avoid embarrassment.’ I’m headed to Sioux City for our event right now. We’re not canceling. Four events in northwest Iowa, keeping them intact. If you can’t handle the snow, you can’t handle Xi Jinping.”
FL Governor Ron DeSantis chose to mock her for ensuring she had such an empty room. As he pointed out, she took aim at Iowans by saying the caucus fight would start there, and New Hampshire would need to fix it.
Haley’s campaign has done little but to serve as a lightning rod for every candidate besides former President Trump to go after. Making little more than simple statements to call her campaign ineffective, Trump has refused to waste much time on her campaign. MAGA Inc. spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt, on the other hand, wasted no time calling her out. Pointing out Haley’s policy for an open border and flip-flopping on issues, she reminded MAGA members that Haley will fail Americans like she did Iowans.
