As with many nations around the world, Iran is experiencing mass chaos and tragedy due to the coronavirus pandemic. In fact, due to its close ties with communist China, where the virus originated, Iran has quickly become one of the hardest hit.
Reports from the nation indicate more than 20,000 confirmed cases and a death toll quickly nearing 2,000. And those are just the reported numbers. As you can well imagine, their government is not very generous with handing out actual reports or news, which leads experts to believe that these numbers are much lower than reality.
Part of this is likely due to the overall lack of healthcare infrastructure even remotely close to the more advanced nations of the west. However, that doesn’t mean this nation simply does without. As with any country that is in dire need, the United Nations does well to consider their circumstances and give aid when needed. The United States does this, as well.
In fact, due to Iran’s immense infection of the virus, the United Nations has already sent the country more than a billion euros to assist in defeating this pandemic or at least providing medical care to confirmed cases.
However, according to multiple sources, this money never reached the people or medical industry of Iran. Instead, it was hoarded by its corrupt leadership.
The Free Beacon reported, “Iranian regime officials stole more than $1 billion meant to help the country’s people fight the spread of coronavirus, according to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. European countries intended for more than $1 billion in aid to go to the Iranian people, who have been ravaged by the virus. But American officials say regime leaders instead pocketed the money to protect themselves from the virus as it spreads throughout the population. This includes hoarding medical supplies that were meant to aid Iranian citizens.”
Meanwhile, the government in Iran has been telling its people and the world that coronavirus is a creation of the United States, meant to poison the nation’s it doesn’t like and further degrade Iran’s economy. In addition, they purport the idea that the US is keeping aid from them due to its “illegal sanctions,” depriving the people of Iran of medical supplies and support.
And while the US certainly does have trade and sale sanctions against Iran, each one has special exceptions that allow for humanitarian aid in times of such need. They can still get all the supplies they need, including medical equipment, medicine, ventilators, food, and much more.
In fact, they already have it. But due to the extreme corruptness of the nation’s leadership, all of it lies in the hands of the Mullahs or is sold on black markets. Reports from insider intelligence sources prove that the regime has stockpiled masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, and more, but it isn’t being distributed to the people. Instead, it only serves to give them a sense of security and line their pockets.
It’s hard to imagine having leadership that would rather serve their own interests than help out its citizens, letting them die to grow their greed. Oh, wait. That’s exactly what House Speaker Nancy Pelosi does all the time. But I digress…
The Iranian government has also refused to ban air traffic to and from its communist friend China, only exacerbating the problem and continuing to allow the spread of the virus.
And yet they have the gall to blame it all on the US.
Sadly, this isn’t the first time this has happened either.
Remember when Obama made a deal with the Iranian regime and sent them billions of dollars during the H1N1 pandemic?
None of that was seen by the people either. It seemed to simply disappear, while the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei amassed great wealth, building himself a $95-200 billion estate with every asset imaginable. Somehow Iran’s nuclear weapons program also seemed to grow exponentially. Odd, huh?
You would have thought that the United Nations would perhaps learn from the United States mistake. But apparently, they didn’t.
Now, I’m not saying that Iran shouldn’t be given the supplies and means to fight this virus. But if we are going to provide them with aid, it should probably be delivered as actual already-made medical supplies and food. And this should be directly distributed to the people at a local level. Obviously, pallets of cash are getting the nation nowhere except deeper down the hole of corruption.
