Republican South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham has some interesting advice for former President Donald Trump. He said that if Trump decides to run in 2024, he needs to shift his focus from what has happened in the past to the current issues facing Americans today.

Graham made these comments on CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday morning. The senator said clearly, “If he runs for president, talking about 2020 is not what people want to hear.”

Dana Bash asked the South Carolina senator if he believes the 2020 election was stolen. She also asked, “Do you want Donald Trump, if he is looking ahead to 2024, to stop saying that?”

Graham responded, “I think we should look at election integrity measures to make sure some problems don’t happen again. If he runs for president, talking about 2020 is not what people want to hear. He likes hearing it. But people want to hear about, how can you secure a broken border? How can you stop rampant crime? What can you do to get the economy back on its feet? And how can you make us safer again? How can you stop Putin from going further? What would you do with China?”

President Trump seems to be making campaign promises already even though he hasn’t announced that he is running again. At a rally in Wisconsin over the weekend, Trump told his supporters that we were going to take back “our magnificent White House.”

Graham addressed election integrity by saying that he supported new policies to promote it, but he also said that voters are tired of hearing about the last presidential election. He believes Trump has to focus on the problems Americans are living with.”

Trump has primarily endorsed candidates who repeat his claims about election fraud in 2020. And he has a strong record of those he has endorsed winning in GOP primary battles across the country. Trump has also gotten involved in local battles by endorsing candidates who if they are elected will oversee election results in their states in 2024.

Senator Graham talked about how Trump has managed to keep high approval ratings among Republican voters more than a year and a half after the Capitol riots on January 6, 2021. He said that it was the poor performance of the Biden Administration that has put the Republican Party in a good position just ahead of the midterms.

President Biden’s approval rating continues to linger just under 40% as his White House administration struggles with the hurdles of inflation, high prices, and tensions with Russia and China.

We’re in the game in a level that I never dreamed of,” Graham said. “It’s not so much about people liking us, it’s about people looking for an alternative to what’s going on.”

Early this week, Senator Lindsay Graham responded to news of former President Trump’s home in Mar-a-Lago being searched by the FBI.

Graham wrote in a series of tweets on Monday and called the FBI investigation “problematic” this close to an election cycle. He said that “No one is above the law. The law must be above politics.”

Former President Trump made an official statement as well on Monday confirming the FBI was conducting a search of his estate in Palm Beach, Florida. He did not comment on what they were searching for, but he said it was unannounced, according to the Associated Press and The National Desk. The raid that began early Monday morning focused on Trump’s office and personal quarters.

According to the Associated Press, a search warrant does not suggest that criminal charges are near or expected.

Sen. Graham ended his interview by saying that he would support Trump if he decides to run again in 2024.
