Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA) says he thinks it’s perfectly fine for the FBI to send spies into Catholic churches in his home state. Kaine’s endorsement of the illegal and unconstitutional FBI plan comes following revelations in February that the FBI’s Richmond field office wanted to infiltrate Latin Mass parishes, on the grounds that they are the dreaded (and non-existent) “white supremacists” that Joe Biden has been fretting about for the past two years.

Former FBI Special Agent Kyle Seraphin blew the whistle on the illegal program when he learned about it. He released the document that had been compiled describing the program to spy on churches without a warrant.

Seraphin wrote, “The document assesses with ‘high confidence’ the FBI can mitigate the threat of Radical-Traditionalist Catholics by recruiting sources within the Catholic Church.”

The fact that the FBI even called these people “Radical-Traditionalist Catholics” is telling. Does anyone inside the Catholic church describe themselves as a Radical-Traditionalist?

Tim Kaine, who nearly became Hillary Clinton’s vice president, says that this illegal FBI plan is no different than when the FBI infiltrated certain mosques in the aftermath of 9/11. But there are some obvious key differences.

For one thing, Latin Mass Catholics haven’t carried out any massive terrorist attacks of any kind on US soil in the past several hundred years. Plus, the FBI was hamstrung and forced to get warrants to do anything against a mosque like cultivating confidential human sources.

The FBI had no plans to get a warrant to spy on Catholic churches. They were just going to do it because they get away with everything these days. And don’t think for a second that Protestant churches are off the hook. This administration views any and all churches, regardless of faith, as its enemy and it is working to undermine, harass and persecute them.

Sen. Tim Kaine’s approval of the illegal plot against Catholics only highlights just how hostile Democrats are to people of faith.
