Border Town “Cleans Up” Before Biden Visit

We all know and have likely discussed at great length just what a ridiculous mess our southern border is in right now. We’ve seen the pictures, heard the horror stories, and definitely heard a few terrifying statistics or two. If all that is to be believed, some major changes need to happen, and they needed to happen years ago.

The problem is that very few of us actually know firsthand what is going on at the border and how much of a trainwreck it is.

You would think that our Commander in Chief and, President Joe Biden would be one of those souls. You know, as the man charged with maintaining national security and all, he, of all people, should know all the details.

And yet, as you well know, since Biden’s inauguration over two years ago now, he’s never even traveled to the border to check out the problems at hand. He’s not seen the overcrowded border facilities, the way crime has ravaged border towns, or how those communities have quite literally turned into migrant encampments.

Well, as of Sunday, that all changed.

Yep, Biden actually went to the border. But don’t get your hopes up for change just yet.

As a number of media outlets are now reporting, what Biden saw isn’t likely what the city actually looks like under normal circumstances.

What do I mean?

Well, as witnesses on the ground noted, the border town of El Paso seemed to initiate a grand “clean up” program just before Biden was scheduled to visit on Sunday.

According to the UK Daily Mail, spectators noted that migrant camps all around the city seemed to suddenly seem cleaner, not so problematic, or just altogether gone.

One volunteer from Sacred Heart Church noted, “It’s a dog and pony show. They’ve cleaned it all up for him.”

Of course, city officials and members of Biden’s admin aren’t admitting any such thing. Instead, officials say the clean-up and timing were just “a coincidence.” Yeah right.

And a report from the New York Post makes that all the more unlikely. According to sources, it all happened “under the cover of darkness” on Saturday. Migrant camps that once littered the streets of El Paso were seemingly sanitized and made to look presentable to the president.

Coincidence? I think not.

The National Border Patrol Council (NBPC) certainly isn’t buying it. Nor are they at all happy about Biden’s now rose-colored visit.

As they wrote on Twitter, “El Paso being cleaned up as if nothing usual ever happened there. Just in time for Biden’s ‘visit to the border.’” The group also noted that a better idea might have been to send Biden somewhere like Des Moines, Iowa, where there is understandably and considerably fewer migrant problems. After all, it’s not like Biden would know the difference if he got off the plane and was told it was El Paso.

Another problem with Biden’s visit is that it is taking place during the first month of the year.

As NBPC president Brandon Judd told the Daily Mail, this is typically the month with the least amount of migrant encounters for federal law enforcement, as it is one of the coldest, and such “migrations” are less likely.

This January is no different. As the outlet pointed out, just a few weeks ago, in December, there were roughly 7,500 daily migrant arrests or “encounters.” At present, there are only around half of that.

Judd points out that both Biden (if he were coherent) would know this, as would his staff. They are made privy to all of these figures and data regularly.

This means that scheduling the trip during January was likely not coincidental.

Border Patrol wasn’t very impressed with Biden’s scheduled visit, either. While it was noted to be “better late than never” by one BP chief, Rodney Scott, he doesn’t expect anything to change. For him, the whole thing was all “for show.”

So much for the border getting those much-needed changes, huh?
