Biden Chooses Man Infamous of Sexual Assault to Find Female VP

As former vice president Joe Biden gets closer in his campaign for the White House, it’s high time he sought out a potential running mate. After all, as of right now, he is the presumed Democratic nominee and is likely to be named so officially unless the party decides at the last moment to swap him out at the Democratic convention.

Naturally, the 78-year-old candidate has been thinking about this choice for a while now. And on March 15, he even announced that whoever he chose would be a woman. Since then, several women, including Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, California Senator Kamala Harris, and former Representative Stacey Abrams, have seemed to make his shortlist.

But as with just about anything in politics and the Democratic Party, in particular, it seems these kinds of choices cannot be made without first organizing a committee. Now, it is always a good idea to at least listen to the advice of others, so committees are not inherently a bad thing. And in Biden’s case, with his mental faculties not being what they once were, this seems to be a crucial decision.

However, it seems that Biden’s choice of vice president search committee members could have been a little better.

On April 30, Biden’s choices for this committee were announced via social media:

“@JoeBiden announced his VP Vetting committee: @SenChrisDodd, @LisaBRochester, @ericgarcetti and former WH & Senate counsel to Biden, Cynthia C. Hogan will serve as co-chairs. WH Counsel Bob Bauer, campaign GC Dana Remus & fmr Nat’l Sec Advisor Lisa Monaco will help vet.”

Three of the four chairs could be very wise choices on Biden’s part, as they are all heavily involved in politics still, and have a good idea of what it takes to be successful. However, the fourth, former Senator Chris Dodd, brings far more than just his political acumen.

You see, Dodd is most widely known as being one half of the infamous “waitress sandwich” scandal that erupted in 1985.

According to a GQ magazine article published in 1990, Senator Dodd and a regular drinking partner, the infamous womanizer Ted Kennedy were out for dinner at a local restaurant. But when it had become apparent the two had imbibed a little too much, things got a little out of hand in their private dining room, ending in the sexual assault of a waitress, Carla Gaviglio.

“As Gaviglio enters the room, the six-foot-two, 225-plus-pound Kennedy grabs the five-foot-three, 103-pound waitress and throws her on the table. She lands on her back, scattering crystal, plates, and cutlery, and the lit candles. Several glasses and a crystal candlestick are broken. Kennedy then picks her up from the table and throws her on Dodd, who is sprawled in a chair. With Gaviglio on Dodd’s lap, Kennedy jumps on top and begins rubbing his genital area against hers, supporting his weight on the arms of the chair. As he is doing this, (another waitress) enters the room. She and Gaviglio both scream, drawing one or two dishwashers. Startled, Kennedy leaps up. He laughs. Bruised, shaken and angry over what she considered a sexual assault, Gaviglio runs from the room. Kennedy, Dodd, and their dates leave shortly thereafter, following a friendly argument between the senators over the check.”

Now, while the waitress admitted at the time that it was not Dodd’s fault and he did not instigate the incident, it is apparent that neither did he do much to resist participating. He could have done just about anything to amend the situation. But he didn’t.

Instead, he just sat there and let it happen.

And while the incident never went to court and charges were never pressed, it became a well-known story throughout Washington. Dodd was forever tainted by his involvement and his close relationship with Kennedy.

Biden, since he was a Senator then too, would have been very acquainted with it all.

You would think that would pretty much rule Dodd out as any choice involving a would-be presidential nominee.

You would also think that since Biden has his own sexual allegations to worry about, a man like this would be pretty the last one to look at, as he would only bring more attention to the situation.

But apparently not.

Either Biden is really trying to cover himself with Dodd’s addition, or he is so confident the media will do that for him that he doesn’t even care.

In either case, it’s not a good look.
