Well, now that the 2020 election is pretty much over, what with the media, Biden’s campaign, and even the electoral college saying that the former vice president won, everyone is beginning to move on a bit.
No, Trump hasn’t given us his quest for fairness or justice, and neither have conservatives lost all hope of keeping the White House. But, suffice it say, at this point, no one really knows what will happen.
Until we do, we are pretty much forced to talk of other topics – like 2024 and what it could bring to America!
And so the polling begins…
On the Republican side, the results are somewhat expected.
Topping the McLaughlin & Associates list of who Republicans would vote for should the 2024 primary happen today, is none other than Donald Trump. Out of the 438 Republican primary voters asked 56 percent name Trump as their choice.
In second place is another unsurprising name: Vice President Mike Pence. Although, his percentage of the vote was much smaller than Trump’s at 11 percent.
Third place goes to Texas Senator and all-around badass Ted Cruz. Cruz received 5 percent of the vote.
Of course, there were other names mentioned, but with third place only receiving 5 percent, names like Mark Rubio, Ron DeSantis, Kristi Noem, and Nikki Haley are nearly not worth mentioning.
On the Democrat side, things weren’t quite as predictable.
Then again, I suppose that depends on your view of the party and its usual antics.
Coming in at first place was Michelle Obama, with 29%. Assumed vice president-elect Kamala Harris trailed her by four points, with 25% of the vote.
Third place is where things begin to get a little scary, not that Harris or Obama isn’t enough to do that already.
In third place came the very liberal and loud-mouthed New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Now currently, AOC is too young to run for the Oval Office, but by the time 2024 gets here, she won’t be.
AOC came in with 7 percent.
Under her was a tie for fourth between gun-hating and failed 2020 presidential candidate Mayor Pete Buttigieg and New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, famous for his epic nursing home scandal during the early days of the pandemic. Each received 5 percent of the vote.
The rest of the would-be candidates received lower single digits that hardly makes them worth mentioning, except for the person coming in last with only 1 percent… Minnesota Representative Ilhan Omar.
Now, before we get too off track worrying about how someone like the anti-Semitic and anti-American Omar even made the list, let’s bring the discussion back to the top of the list. After all, it’s what really matters.
On one hand, we shouldn’t be surprised at all that Obama beat out Harris as the top choice. She is, after all, the wife of the Democrats’ beloved former president.
And Harris, well, is Harris. While she somehow managed to become vice president-elect, no one voted her into that position.
In fact, when America was given a chance to vote for her, she failed miserably at getting their respect, let alone their attention. You’ll remember that she was pretty much forced out of the 2020 presidential race because she couldn’t raise support any higher than single digits.
However, there’s still a problem with the Democrats’ choice of Obama as their top pick for 2024.
Basically, it all comes down to her simply not being qualified for the job. As a wife of a politician, she has had plenty of experience navigating political conversations. But she has never held an office of any sort.
Suffice it say, that being married to a president doesn’t make you presidential material.
Sure, being the first lady does require a certain list of things to be done. However, they are in no way, shape, or form to compare with the land’s highest office.
And nothing about her professional career can speak to the lack thereof.
In fact, upon a closer inspection of her jobs, it seems she only succeeded when her husband did.
Take the position she held with the University of Chicago Medical center, for example. While she was hired in 2002, it wasn’t until 2005, right after Barack became a senator and the hospital received “a $1 million earmark,” that her accomplishments seem to mean something.
According to National Review, it was then that her salary was nearly tripled. When she resigned after her husband won the presidency, the hospital eliminated her position.
So much for being irreplaceable.
And since her time in the White House, the only professional claim she has is the Higher Grounds Productions company she and Barack founded. But what she actually does for the business is a little vague – as in no one really knows beyond her name being attached.
It doesn’t exactly sound like a presidential experience to me.
Trump, on the other hand, has all the experience that he needs and then some.
